Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali and Vice-Chairman and President of Telangana Minorities Residential Schools A.K. Khan on Thursday inaugurated three schools at Secunderabad Cantonment, Saidabad and Bhadurpura.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Mahmood Ali said that the objective of opening residential schools exclusively for students hailing from the minority communities was to give them access to quality education in a manner that they never had the privilege before.
At an Iftar party here, hosted by the Information and Public Relations Department recently, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had announced that 120 such institutions would be established across the State, of which 71, including 31 for girls and 39 for boys were being started during the holy month of Ramzan this year.
Mr. Khan said that the State Government was particularly focussed on girl child education and pointed out that religious and moral values would form part of the curriculum. He assured parents of constructing permanent buildings on an area of about six to eight acres each, at a cost of between Rs. 20 crore and Rs.23 crore in the next couple of years. Permanent teachers too, he said, would be appointed through the Telangana State Public Service Commission.
