Tension prevailed at a private school in Safilguda on Monday afternoon after a group of persons staged a protest alleging sexual harassment of a seven-year-old girl student.

According to the police, last week, a male student went to the washroom and cut the hair of the girl and ran away. The girl later complained about to her parents who approached the school management.

Following the incident, the school authorities began conducting counselling session for students.

On Monday, the parents after coming to know about counselling, gathered in front of the school alleging that a few high school students had misbehaved with a second class student.

On receipt of information, the police rushed to the spot and spoke the school management and parents of the child.

“The school management lodged a complaint with us on Monday evening. They are not clear about the identity of the boy who had harassed the girl. We have registered a case under Criminal Amendment Act and launched a probe,” DCP Malkajgiri, R Rama Rajeshwari, said.
