Union Minister Y.S. Chowdary, (Sujana Chowdary) filed a case in Hyderabad High Court to quash the criminal case registered against him.

The Mauritius Commercial Bank had filed a case in a criminal court and the Minister is one of the accused. When he did not appear before the court, non-bailable warrants were issued. The petitioner claimed that he was a non-executive director of Sujana Universal Industries Limited and he cannot be proceeded against. The case is to come up for hearing on Tuesday or Wednesday.

The Telangana government on Monday said that taking advantage of the fluid situation in March, 2014 after passage of bifurcation bill in Parliament, ‘fraud’ was played in respect of a 5.63 acre prime land plot known as old Gandhi Medical College land in Basheerbagh, Hyderabad. The court wanted to know what the new government has done till now.

This statement was made orally by Additional Advocate General J. Ramachandra Rao before a board comprising Acting Chief Justice Dilip B. Bhosale. The bench was dealing with PIL filed complaining that due to the action and inaction on the part of state government the exchequer is losing large amounts. The issue was regarding the leasing out of this prime land for construction of malls, multiplexes and the like. The lease was given to one consortium in 2006 and when there was no progress the lease was cancelled in 2012. When this was challenged, Government issued proceedings in 2014 renewing the old lease in 2014, without much change in rates.

This was challenged in these PILs. During the course of arguments the Telangana state government said that the whole thing was fraud.
