Unhappy over the slow progress of the Chankha-Korata Barrage work, Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao fixed the time line for completion of work by June-end and warned that the work agency would be removed if they failed to achieve desired progress in next 15 days.

At a meeting held here on Saturday, the Minister expressed disappointment and directed the irrigation officials and the work agency to speed up execution of the project. He issued a stern warning to the work agency concerned that the government would not hesitate to remove them from the contract if they failed to execute at least 1,000 cubic metres of concrete work every day.

The Minister directed the engineers to act tough against the work agency in the matter in tune with the clauses in the contract agreement. He enquired about the component-wise progress of work on barrage, pump house, gravity canal, sub-station, construction of towers, fabrication of gates and erection.

He told the engineers to construct barrage piers till the bridge level by March-end and complete fabrication of gates by then. He directed the Chief Engineers of the Central Designs Organisation to complete the designs of surge pool, delivery cistern, pressure pipe, line valley cross and others by January 15.

On the erection of transmission line for the sub-station, Co-Director of TS-Transco Suryaprakash Rao pointed out that they had problems with land owners at 11 locations. The Minister spoke to his Cabinet colleague from Adilabad district Jogu Ramanna over the phone and requested him to settle the issue in two or three days.
