The State government has strongly rebutted the Congress charges on the Metro Rail project asserting that the government had overcome several obstacles in land acquisition and other issues in expediting the project.
Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav described the Congress leaders as members of a “drama company” who were raising hue and cry over non-issues. He dared the Congress leaders to come for an open debate on the measures taken by the Congress for providing infrastructure and basic amenities to the people of the GHMC during its 10 year rule and those initiated by the TRS government after it took over the reins three years ago.
Mr. Srinivas Yadav pooh-poohed the Congress for promising several schemes if it came back to power and said the party would never return to power again. He told reporters here on Thursday that the State Government was effectively coordinating with the Central ministries, including the Railways and Defence, in clearing hurdles in the metro rail project and a task force headed by the Chief Secretary was reviewing the progress of works once a week.
“The Congress leaders should clarify as to what it did for providing uninterrupted power supply, double bedroom housing for poor and provision of basic infrastructure during its decade long rule. The opposition party should introspect on the schemes that have been introduced by the present government,” he said. The Congress was opposed to all the developmental projects including construction of secretariat and the people would teach a fitting lesson to itat an appropriate time, he added.
