People in the city experienced a sudden chill in the air as the minimum temperature plummeted by nearly six degrees in a span of three days. From 18 degree Celsius on Monday, the minimum temperatures plunged to 12.6 degree Celsius on Wednesday.

Further, Met department authorities expect the minimum temperature to hover around 12 degree Celsius for the next couple of days as well.

Steady decline

Since the last three days, the minimum temperature in the city has been declining steadily. On Monday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 29 degree Celsius and minimum temperature at 18 degree Celsius and on Tuesday, while the maximum temperature remained the same, the minimum temperature slipped to 15 degree Celsius.

On Wednesday, the minimum temperature was recorded at 12.6 degree Celsius. The forecast for Thursday is that the maximum temperature would be 29 degree C and minimum temperature 13 degree Celsius and fog or mist may occur in the mornings, Met department authorities said.

They further explained that it was very normal for the minimum temperatures to drop considerably during this time of the year. The sudden dip in minimum temperatures in the city could be due to Northerly winds blowing across, they added.
