Mass wedding of 22 Sikh couples from across the country took place free of cost, as part of the ‘Samuhik Vivaha Samagam' at the Gurudwara Saheb Barambala, here on Sunday.

Couples from Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Aurangabad, Hyderabad and Warangal among other places, who cannot afford luxurious weddings were wed at the grand affair that witnessed participation of 25,000 Sikhs, a press release said.

Speaking at the occasion, Andhra Pradesh State Christian (Minorities) Finance Corporation managing director, J.R. Sudheer said that the State government would extend all benefits like scholarships and monetary support for mass weddings to minority communities in the State. The State Minorities Welfare Department too extended financial support to each couple in the form of household articles.
