Man held on cricket betting charge

The Mangalhat police on Wednesday busted a cricket match betting racket by arresting a grocery store-owner Udha Ram Singh. An amount of Rs.1.33 lakh was seized from him. The accused and his associate Ravi Narayan were accepting bets on the T20 cricket match between India and Pakistan played two days ago at Bangalore.

They would accept bet amounts over mobile phones and operating from a room in Jungurbasti of Lower Dhoolpet, Inspector G. Sridhar said. Narayan escaped when the police raided the room. A hunt is on for him.
