The Santosh Nagar police registered a case against a man and his uncle for trying to coerce the former’s wife to have physical relationship with the latter. Mujimul Munir, who married a 21-year-old woman six months ago, tried to force his wife to get into bed with Mubeenuddin, his paternal uncle, who also allegedly tried to rape the woman.
According to a senior police officer, Munir reportedly told the police that he was impotent and hence wanted his wife to bear children that way. Mubeenuddin is also alleged to have made sexual advances towards the 21-year-old, who then lodged a complaint with the Santosh Nagar police on March 11, following which a case was registered.
“In Munir’s absence, his uncle also touched his wife inappropriately. Mubeenuddin tried to rape the woman as well,” said police. Both the accused are currently absconding and the police have formed teams to arrest them.
They have been booked under Indian Penal Code Sections 376 read with 511 (attempt to rape), 354 (A) and (B) and 498 (A).
