Man arrested for stealing confidential data

The cyber crime police had arrested a 32-year-old man, Gurazala Venkateswara Rao, on Monday for allegedly downloading confidential information by hacking into a company’s official email, Additional Director General of Police (CID) in a press release on Wednesday said.

The company had approached the cyber crime police and lodged a complaint on August 6, 2012 alleging that unknown persons have managed to hack the company’s official email and downloaded confidential information. The police registered a case under IT Act, 2000 and Section 420 of the IPC, the press release added.

During the course of investigation taken up by Inspector of Police, Cyber Crime PS (CID), K. Shiva Kumar, the police arrested Venkateswara Rao in Prakash Nagar, Narasaraopet, Guntur district. According to police, Venkateswara Rao colluded with an ex-employee of the company S. Rama Krishna, who is now absconding, to hack and access confidential information of the company. The personal computer of the accused and other documents used in the offence were seized and the accused has been sent to judicial remand, the police added.
