Congress legislator from from Makthal in Mahabubnagar district Chittem Rammohan Reddy joined the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) formally here on Tuesday. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, who is also the party president, welcomed him into the party.
A large number of Mr. Reddy’s supporters including several ZPTC members, mandal praishad presidents and sarpanches followed suit. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao called for realignment of political forces in the State to counter the attempts of the Andhra Pradesh Government and political parties there against irrigation projects being taken up by Telangana Government.
He criticised that the AP Government was trying to thwart Telangana’s plans to quench the thirst of the parched lands of Mahabubnagar district by adopting a resolution in its Cabinet meet and planning to take the matter to Delhi, while another leader was planning to stage a protest against Palamuru-Ranga Reddy project. He stated that the project was achieved when he was the MP from Mahabubnagar itself when the then combined AP Government had cleared it.
Mr. Rao reiterated that there won’t be any let up in the government plans to make Telangana green.
