The Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) is all set to launch its unit in Tamil Nadu sometime next month. After success in Maharashtra, MIM is planning to expand its base. A 500-strong delegation of Muslims from different parts of Tamil Nadu called on Akbaruddin Owaisi, Majlis floor leader in Telangana Assembly and younger sibling of party president, Asaduddin Owaisi, here on Sunday.
This is the second time in the last fortnight that Muslims from Chennai, Tirichi, Vanambadi, Vellore and Hosur in Krishnagiri district visited Darussalam, the Majlis headquarters. Mr. Akbaruddin, who held talks with the delegation in the absence of his elder brother, is believed to have assured that the Majlis branch would be set up in Chennai on February 27. However, the Owaisi brothers were not available to confirm this.
