L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad, the concessionaire building the elevated public transport project for the city, in an effort to take it closer to the people has decided to choose brand ambassadors from among the general public.

These will be selected among students (school & college), corporates, senior citizens, housewives and others. The process of selection will be announced shortly and a panel of eminent personalities will function as judges to select them, said L&TMRH Chief Executive & Managing Director V.B. Gadgil on Tuesday.

“Hyderabad metro rail is a people’s project so its obvious that we chose citizens as brand ambassadors during the construction stage. We will be choosing eight to 10 persons and they will be featured in all publicity campaigns,” he announced at a press conference.

A second initiative unveiled is to popularise the use of bicycles and linking it with metro rail. Bicycle riding will be conducted across all the three routes where the metro rail is being built. The first ride in the ‘Hyderabad Metro Connects series’ will be the ‘Blue ride’ where several bicycle riders are expected to participate in the Shilparamam to Nagole community ride on Feb.17, 6.30 a.m. to 12 noon. Soon these rides will be taken up on the ‘Red ride’ – L.B.Nagar to Miyapur and the ‘Green ride’ – JBS to Falaknuma. These activities are being taken up in association with Atlanta Foundation, a voluntary organisation working for the underprivileged students. Mr. Gadgil said L&TMRH will be undertaking corporate socially responsible activities for the primary and secondary schools alongside the three routes. “We are entering into an interesting phase of construction . Work will also begin on the Begumpet road in addition to the constructions at Uppal, Miyapur & L.B.Nagar,” he observed.
