Congress leaders competed with each other on Friday to express their loyalty to the Gandhi family coinciding with the 66th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

Chief Minister K. Rosaiah speaking at a series of programmes said true leaders will never run after posts.

He said late Rajiv Gandhi was a great visionary, who predicted a bright future for the country by utilising technology.

“Everybody should strive to fulfil the aspirations of late Rajiv Gandhi,” he said.

Leaders underscored the need to strengthen hands of AICC president Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi. While praising Mr. Rahul Gandhi, leaders took a dig at some young leaders, who wanted to reach the top in a short time.

They went out of their way to eulogise the Gandhi family, recalling the sacrifices of late Indira and Rajiv Gandhi, praising AICC president Sonia Gandhi's leadership and predicting bright future for the country under the stewardship of Mr. Rahul Gandhi.

Significantly, the flexi boards and posters put up in the city carried pictures of all leaders except late YSR. Rajiv Sadbhavana Yatra was organised by Rajya Sabha member V. Hanumantha Rao at Rajiv Gandhi circle in Somajiguda.

Mr. Rao took an indirect dig at Y. S. Jagan stating that some leaders were trying to project as if his father was everything. He reminded that loyalty to the high command alone paid dividends.

Health Minister Danam Nagender organised a mega blood donation camp at People's Plaza. Government Chief Whip Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka paid floral tributes to the former Prime Minister at the CLP office.

Convention

A convention was organised by the APYC president T.J.R.Sudhakar after which a rally was taken out.
