The eco-tourism wing of the Forest Department has been offering several packages to nature-lovers that have become a big hit among youth. Night camps, trekking, boat ride in Laknavaram lake, rock climbing and bird watching sessions have particularly become popular among tourists.
District Eco-Tourism Coordinator K. Suman said the Eturnagaram forest area in Jayashankar Bhupalapalli district has been attracting a large number of tourists who desperately need a break from their hectic work. “People come here to unwind as its serene surroundings help them get back to work energised,” he said.
He said the district administration has been working towards providing better facilities to tourists. In this regard, the Forest Department has introduced several adventure activities that include trekking, cycling, jungle safari, rock climbing and camping at the forest.
“We witness steady crowds, particularly from Warangal and Hyderabad. They have been showing keen interest in visiting the tourist places here. We have also identified several spots suitable for camping at Tadvai, Pasra, Laknavaram and Pandavula Gutta. Waking up to the chirping of birds, refreshing air and the whispers of the lake can be an unforgettable experience,” District Forest Officer T. Ravi Kiran said. Mr. Suman added that they would provide the necessary weather-proof tents and bonfire tables along with two security guards and a guide to stay with the camping party.
“In the morning, the camping group can choose the activities they like to indulge in such as bird watching, cycling, trekking, lake view safari, bullock cart ride, fishing, kayaking, and boat ride in Laknavaram lake. When we are contacted by the tourists to know about the camping, we give them complete details,” he explained. Each person is charged ₹1,200, that includes tents, camping beds, dinner and breakfast along with other activities. For details and registration, contact Mr. Suman on +91 73826 19363, +91 94935 49399.
