The ongoing conference of the Telangana State committee of CPI (M) was of the view that all steps taken by the TRS government were with an eye on elections due to Hyderabad, Warangal and Khammam municipal corporations.
The political resolution adopted by the conference on its second day here on Monday said the TRS was trying to consolidate its position politically after assuming power by attracting legislators from other parties and increasing its tally in the Assembly and Council.
It was wrong on the part of TRS to believe that it could give a stable government with an increased strength in statutory bodies and wresting the municipal corporations.
The government drew strategies to divert public attention from its failures instead of taking precautions to see that they were not repeated, the conference felt.
Fee reimbursement
Releasing the resolution at a press conference, the secretary of the State committee Tammineni Veerabhadram and former MLA Julakanti Ranga Reddy said the failures of government included the controversial decision on fee reimbursement to students of professional colleges. The government stoked emotions of people on issues concerning power, irrigation, State Council of Higher Education and change of name of agricultural university.
It took unilateral decision even in key matters without convening all party meetings.
The conference took note that the TRS appeased Muslims to win their votes by praising Nizam and bowed to the BJP to get Central funds. But, the BJP led NDA government failed to release funds. The praise showered on Nizam of Hyderabad by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was condemned by the conference because the ruler suppressed the Dalit and downtrodden in the erstwhile State, Mr. Veerabhadram added.
He also said the conference discussed that the Left parties were the only alternative to TRS as the BJP, TDP and Congress were in no position to fulfil the ambitions of people in the new State. It appealed to Left parties to sink their differences and forge unity.
