Laurus Labs, a leading research and development-driven pharmaceutical company, has extended its support to Akshaya Patra Foundation by donating to it an iSUZU vehicle worth ₹13.26 lakh.

It will be used for food transportation to school children under its corporate social responsibility initiative.

Akshaya Patra food vehicles are thermostat vehicles which preserve the vessels’ temperature so that hot and hygienic meal can be served to children. Laurus labs CFO V.V. Ravi Kumar handed over the vehicle key to foundation president Sri Satya Gaura Chandra Dasa in the presence of officials from both organisations at the Narsingi kitechn on Tuesday.

The foundation currently serves freshly cooked school lunch to 1,54,649 beneficiaries every day, which includes mid-day meals to 1,08,494 children in 1,207 schools and 46,155 Anganwadi beneficiaries at 1,386 centres across seven districts of Telangana. The midday meal programme is a strong incentive to parents to send children to school, a press release said.
