The Hyderabad district administration has begun finalising applications following verification, for regularisation of encroached government lands smaller than 125 square yards for BPL families. Collector K. Nirmala on Friday said 1,200 applications have been finalised.
Addressing the media, Ms. Nirmala informed that 13,000 applications of the 64,000 received under GO 58, have been verified. Verification has been completed in nine of the 16 mandals in the district, and in remaining mandals it will be completed by March 10.
Following the field-level verification, the final approval for ‘pattas’ is being given by a committee comprising Revenue Divisional Officers (RDO) and Tehsildars of mandals.
However, distribution of pattas will not begin before completion of MLC elections to two graduate constituencies in the State, in the last week of March.
The Collector also stressed that applications under GO 59 (regularisation of land over 125 square yards) will not be accepted after February 28. Action will be initiated against encroachers who fail to get encroachments regularised, she said.
When asked if applicants who have not submitted adequate proof of possession including property tax receipts or electricity bills, are being rejected without verification, Ms. Nirmala said they are using Aadhaar details to verify possession. She, however, added that where encroachments have been leased, they will not be regularised.
Admitting that the district administration has not received as many applications as initially expected under GO 59, the Collector informed that 395 applications were received accruing Rs. 14.4 crore in revenue so far. Maximum number of applications under GO 58 and 59 were collected in Shaikpet mandal, which also earned the district half its total collection from GO 59 applications.
