Kavitha’s name enrolled in absentia

In a revelation that could embarrass the TRS Government, revenue officials have confirmed that Nizamabad MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha’s name was enrolled at her in-laws residence in Pothangal village of Navipet mandal in absentia on August 19. The issue snowballed into a major controversy after TDP member A. Revanth Reddy alleged that the MP had enrolled her name in Nizamabad as well as in Hyderabad. The issue had led to arguments between the TDP and TRS members in the Assembly for the last two days leading to suspension of 10 TDP MLAs on Thursday. The government had termed the allegation as false.

Navipet Tahsildar B. Anil Kumar said the authorities had allowed Ms. Kavitha to get the name and other details enrolled through her father-in-law Ramkishan Rao at their residence following a letter given by her saying she was unable to appear before the enumerator personally as she was unwell.

The details were recorded by enumerator in the presence of Village Revenue Officer Mohan and also a special officer from the ICDS, Mr Anil Kumar said.
