People urged to attend the conference in big numbers and make it a grand success

The five-day World Telugu Conference -2017 to be held from December 15 is open to all and every one is invited, Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Kadiyam Srihari has said.

The festival of Telugu should be celebrated by people of Telangana wholeheartedly and with pride. Over 7,900 guests and representatives from across the world have registered as the delegates for the conference. About 160 representatives from 40 countries, 1,167 representatives from other States and about 6,000 from Telanangana have registered their names.

Speaking to media after a review meeting by the Cabinet Sub-Committee on World Telugu Conference arrangements here on Thursday, Mr. Srihari, Chairman of the Committee, said that Telangana government extended its invitation to 37 overseas guests and 56 persons from other States.

The transport and accommodation expenses of those coming as State guests would be borne by the government and accommodation would be provided to representatives coming from other States, he said.

The schedule of various events to be held during the conference would be published in advance to enable people plan their day. As part of introducing Telangana culture and lifestyle to the delegates attending the World Telugu Conference, stalls of Telangana food and cuisine, literature, history, handlooms, handicrafts and cultural programmes, temples and numismatics of Telangana would be set up.

He called upon people of Telangana, those who love Telugu language, writers, literary persons, general public to attend the conference in big numbers and make it a grand success.

Replying to a query on call given by some to boycott the Telugu Conference, Telangana Sahitya Academy Chairman Nandini Sidha Reddy said that the Telangana government was inviting every one and if some decided not to come or boycott, it was their choice.

The State government would organise the conference in a grand manner in the presence of Telugu writers, musicians, classical dancers coming from abroad and Telugu language pundits, writers and poets from other States apart from Telangana, Mr. Srihari said.

The review meeting was attended by Ministers Tummala Nageswara Rao, Chandulal, K.T.Rama Rao, Telangana Grandhalaya Samstha Chairman Sridhar, Telugu University Vice-Chancellor Satyanarayana, Tourism and Culture Secretary B. Venkatesham, and other higher officials.
