Senior Congress leader V. Hanumanth Rao has demanded that YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy ask his party leader Bhumana Karunakar Reddy to tender unconditional apology for his comments against Congress president Sonia Gandhi or tender one himself. Mr. Rao took strong objection to Mr. Karunakar Reddy’s intemperate comments against Ms. Gandhi. It is not appropriate on the part of the YSRC member to criticise the Congress leadership for the cases being faced by Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy. Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy left the Congress on his own and not at the behest of Ms. Gandhi. The CBI cases registered against the YSRC president are of his own making and the Congress had no role in it, he said.
He recalled that the Congress president gave an opportunity to Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy to become the Chief Minister.
But the YSRC leaders are criticising Ms. Gandhi now. He wanted Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy himself to tender unconditional apology if the latter is unable to convince his party leader to do so.
“Congress sympathisers will not attend the birthday celebrations of YSR if Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy fails to take appropriate action on the issue,” he said.
The senior Congress leader also took exception to the manner in which the YSRC leaders extended their support to NDA presidential candidate Ramnath Kovind. “Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy, it appears, has decided to extend his support to the BJP nominee in view of the CBI cases he is facing,” Mr. Rao said.
