Boating in Kadem reservoir in Nirmal district is safe. This is a sort of assurance given by Odela Ramesh, the licenced driver who operates the facility provided by Telangana Tourism Department since the last nine years.

We operate two boats, the deluxe boat with a capacity of 17 and the speed boat with a capacity to seat four persons. For their protection, we have 25 life jackets besides the two life buoys, one for each of the boats, Mr. Ramesh explained.

Passengers are given 10 minute rides in the reservoir over a length of about 2 km. Water at this point of time is about 80 ft deep, according to Mr. Ramesh.

On weekdays, only about 20 passengers take a ride in the rather swirling waters of Kadem. On weekends however, about 200 persons take a ride.
