A software engineer working in a top MNC committed suicide by hanging in his room at Gachibowli on Friday, the police said. The techie, C. Praveen Kumar, 24, hailing from Kurnool town, joined the company three months ago.

He was staying in a rented house near the office along with his colleague Prasanna. On Friday, Kumar told Prasanna that he would come to the office late. However, Kumar did not report for work and was not responding when Prasanna called him up. Prasanna returned home for lunch and knocked the door but Kumar failed to respond.

With the help of the house owner, they entered the room through the rear door and found Kumar hanging. His friends told police that Kumar used to break down whenever he recalled the death of his sister who had committed suicide six months ago. This apart, he had failed in an exam conducted by the company. These factors could have forced him to end his life, the SI said.
