‘IT fuelling growth in other sectors'

Chief Minister K. Rosaiah on Wednesday stated that benefits of Information Technology (IT) industry were visible in the State with increasing employment opportunities in the sector as well as in the hospitality, transport and entertainment sectors.

Speaking at a function organised here by the IT and Communications Department to present Jawahar Knowledge Centre (JKC) awards to students, corporates for recognising their talent and colleges for running JKCs effectively, he said normalcy had returned in the State after a spell of uncertainty.

He assured the IT companies that the government would create a congenial and investor-friendly atmosphere in the State so that they could flourish. The IT industry was on the path of recovery and it was good news for students pursuing engineering, IT and related education. Reach of IT benefits to common man would help growth of the sector further, he noted.

Complimenting the role of JKCs, he announced increase of budgetary allocation for JKCs from Rs. 2.5 crore to Rs. 5 crore for 2010-11.

Minister for IT and Sports Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Principal Secretary of IT and Communications Department K. Ratna Prabha also spoke.
