A teenager Chandini Jain had apparently trusted the most emerged prime suspect in her killing.
Police stumbled upon a video clip in which the twelfth standard student from Miyapur, whose decomposed body was found in Ameenpur on Tuesday, was seen travelling on a three-wheeler with a man. “It was not clear if that man was of her age but looks like he is younger than 25,” a police officer who analysed the video said.
The man in a pair of dark shorts and round-neck shirt came on an auto-rickshaw to a mud road leading to the secluded place behind Janapriya Nile Valley in Ameenpur. They were at the spot around 5.28 p.m. on Saturday.
Chandini left her home in Deepthisrinagar around 5 p.m. the same day telling her family that she was going to meet a friend. “It is clear that within the next few minutes she met that person clad in shorts and went to the secluded place along with him,” the police said.
But they believe at least one or two others helped that man kill the teenager. “At the crime scene, broken beer bottles, energy drink tins, a two-litre cold drink bottle were found,” a police officer said.
While only a single man was seen in the video clip, bottles of different drinks found at the crime scene beside her body suggest that more than one could have been behind the murder. “Moreover, both were not seen carrying any bags or covers or bottles while getting off the auto-rickshaw and walking towards the mud road,” the investigators said.
They suspect that some others joined Chandini and the prime suspect after some time at the secluded place and brought the bottles there. Late in the night, police identified the man accompanying Chandini and launched a hunt for him.
“Why the teenager was murdered can be confirmed only after catching that man,” they said.
