In an era where technology has a marked influence on students fizzling out the impact of school and teachers in imbibing learning, three IIT-Roorkee students have come up with a solution that would connect all the important stakeholders - students, teachers and parents - for making learning an effective process.

The 2015 graduates of the IIT, hailing from the city, have designed a concept that opens up channel for students to explore their interest, for teachers to communicate with parents to share their wards’ activities on daily basis and finally ensure that the entire process is productive for everyone.

“The new online platform ‘Rigkno’ is now being used by several schools and will change the way all these stakeholders interact,” says its designers Vishwanath, Nishant Bansal and Avinash Reddy. After working in the IT sector for a couple of years, they realised their passion lay in the field of education and decided to launch this product.

Multiple sources

When teachers give assignments, parents can monitor through the mobile App while students get not just the assignments but related plug-ins to search and access content from top education content providers like Khan Academy, SciShow, Bozeman Science, relevant to that day’s class.

Healthy competition

Teachers can also showcase achievements and creative works of students, which these youngsters believe will give them a productive identity among immediate peers, unlike in the social media.

“Teachers can share resources and important notes with a class to enrich daily lessons. It is created in a student-friendly way to promote interactions and discussion by giving an option for the students to stay anonymous so that shy and introvert students may also participate,” Mr. Vishwanath explains.

From parents point of view this App has become an integral part of their connect to their children’s education as they can view the classwork, homework and notes shared by teachers sitting at home. “In fact, we don’t need to call up other parents for information as everything is at the tip of our fingers,” says Chandrasekhar, a parent.

A parent and student can also raise a request and start a conversation on approval by the teacher. Administrator can view all the conversations between parents, students and teachers, apart from starting a conversation.

Rigkno will be a new medium of communication off-school to enhance the student-teacher relationship and improve their in-person interactions, keeping a parent aware about activities in school, explains Avinash Reddy.
