IAF team reaches city on cycles

The 18-member Command Hospital Air Force Bangalore (CHAFB) team that embarked on a seven-day cycling expedition from Bangalore to Secunderabad to commemorate the institute’s golden jubilee celebrations reached Military Hospital, Secunderabad on Thursday.

The expedition was flagged off on 1st December 2017 by Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief Training Command Air Marshal S. R. K. Nair.

The team comprising seven doctors, including one woman, and 11 medical assistants, travelled through Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana via Madanapalle, Kadapa, Giddalur, Srisailam and Hajipur and reached here covering a distance of 800 km. The main motto of the team was to spread awareness on fitness and the benefits of sports like cycling to prevent lifestyle diseases as they passed through several places in three states.

This is the first time a cyclothon of this distance has been attempted by doctors and medical assistants in Indian Air Force. The cyclists were warmly welcomed by GOC Telangana & Andhra Sub-area Major General N. Srinivas Rao. and Commandant of Secunderabad MH Brigadier D. Vivekanand.
