The Holi revelry turned tragic for a shop owner, who was pummelled to death allegedly by a car driver and members of his family after the former warned the driver not to harass his daughter. The shocking incident took place at Uday Nagar, Road No. 11, Banjara Hills, on Wednesday.
Raj Kumar (45) was celebrating Holi in his house with his family when car driver G. Sagar, his brother Srikanth and their parents -- Nagaiah and Swaroopa -- arrived there and entered into a heated argument with the former accusing him of threatening Sagar.
Shower blows
They allegedly showered blows on Kumar and left the place in a huff even as he collapsed on the floor. Kumar was rushed to a private hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.
The shop owner’s relatives later told media persons that Sagar, who lives in the same locality, had been stalking Kumar’s daughter, a B.Tech student, for the last two months. On learning this, Kumar reprimanded the driver once. Three days ago, he warned Sagar reportedly after learning that the latter was continuing to harass his daughter. “The driver warned Kumar’s daughter of dire consequences if she brought the matter to anybody’s notice,” a relative said.
Kumar’s wife Saroja lodged a complaint with the Banjara Hills police.
