Feeling assured of getting the earlier premises of A.P. Riding Club at Masab Tank, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has initiated plans on setting up its office complex there.

The urban planning body, which has been without proper office premises of its own since it vacated its office complex at Begumpet for US Consulate has started the exercise of getting architectural and design consultancy for the proposed building.

A ground plus seven floor structure has been proposed on the site which measures about 4,032 square metres.

The HMDA plan envisages a built-up space of nearly 1.50 lakh sft with appropriate green features at a cost of Rs.50 crore to accommodate most of its units that also include the Outer Ring Road (ORR) project.

The HMDA officials look at creating what they call a modern edifice that complement the character and ambience of a modern corporate office and at the same time stands out as a land mark.

A total of 300 staff members from different units including the Planning Department, IT Section, Enforcement Section and Engineering are to be accommodated apart from creating facilities such as conference halls, record section, a library and recreational centre for the staff.

Once the government approves handing over the land, the HMDA plans to be able to complete the work within two years.

“We wanted to utilise the time available till the site is handed over to us for finalising the architectural and design consultancy. That way we can start the construction work immediately,” said an official.
