The Cyber Crime Police of Cyberabad on Tuesday arrested Panati Sasi Kumar, 24, a native of Chittoor district, on charge of cheating a woman by taking money by promising to provide employment. The man contacted the woman’s family after going through her profile on a matrimonial portal. Kumar made the family members of the woman believe that he would marry her and frequented their house. A few weeks ago, Kumar told them he knew some persons in an Infosys company in Bengaluru and collected Rs.1.5 lakh on the pretext of getting the woman’s sister a job through his contacts, the police said.

However, he did not help her get the job and instead stopped contacting them.

“Kumar threatened the woman that he would post her morphed pictures on social networking sites if she demanded the money,” Additional DCP (Crimes) B. Srinivas Reddy, said.

On questioning, Kumar admitted to have cheated many women in similar manner, he added.
