: A division bench of the Hyderabad High Court comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sen Gupta and Justice PV Sanjay Kumar on Monday directed the Election Commission of India to respond to the issue of money power influencing the outcome of elections in the country.

The bench was treating a letter written by the resident editor of an English daily as writ petition. The petitioner complained that the EC was unable to control the flow of money which is influencing the outcome of elections. The bench felt that the issue of uncontrolled spending for elections needs immediate attention. The case was adjourned by three weeks.
