A Division Bench of Hyderabad High Court comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice T.Rajini on Tuesday asked the Telangana government to explain with clarity about the usage of sirens on cars, red beacons etc.,
The Bench was dealing with the case filed by Bhavanappa, a practicing advocate of Mahabubnagar. The advocate alleged that unauthorised persons were using red beacon and sirens on their vehicles.
The Division Bench wanted the Telangana government to clarify its stand and give instructions in this regard. The case was adjourned to for hearing next week.
Hearing on rummy
The arguments in the writ petition filed challenging the action of the Telangana government in prohibiting online rummy game will continue on Wednesday.
The Bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice T.Rajini was hearing a writ petition filed by several petitioners from Mumbai and other places.
It may be recalled that the Telangana Government has taken serious view of the activities in the name of playing cards. It had issued an Ordinance prohibiting playing of rummy even online.
The counsel for the petitioner claimed that rummy was a game of skill and not game of chance. The Supreme Court had given several judgments on this issue. The Telangana government should not have issued an ordinance amending the Gaming Act. The Bench said that it will hear the arguments on Wednesday.
Shoes for miners
A Division Bench of Hyderabad High Court comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice T.Rajini on Tuesday asked the Singareni collieries and two other companies which supply shoes to miners to clarify on the allegations of supply of inferior quality shoes to miners. A letter written by Social Body Mining Workers through Om Santi Brihannala was treated as a writ petition. In the letter complained, it was said that the rules require that the miners be given shoes with steel sole but are given shoes with rubber soles. The Bench granted time for the respondents to answer the allegations.
