A Division bench of the Hyderabad High Court comprising Acting Chief Justice Dilip B. Bhosale and Justice P. Naveen Rao on Monday made it clear that the Court was not inclined to pass order reducing the height of Ganesh idols in Hyderabad city.
It wanted the organisers and devotees to embark upon self-regulation in view of development of flyovers, Metro project etc.
The bench was dealing with cases filed by Venumadhav, practicing advocate, complaining that Hussainsagar was being polluted because of Ganesh idol immersion.
The bench wanted the officials to place on record the steps they had taken to supply natural colours to idol makers, creating separate enclosures in lakes for immersion so that the debris can be removed.
The counsel appearing for the Bhagya Nagar Ganesh Ustavasamiti said that the earlier judgments had dealt with all the issues and the issue of reduction of height was sensitive one.
The bench said that it would suggest to all parties to see that the devotees conduct the traditional festival keeping in view of changing landscape of city and lake protection.
The bench asked all the parties to file their suggestions so that it can pass orders giving some guidelines. The case will be listed next Monday.
