The non-executive chairman of Hindustan Unilever Limited, Harish Manwani, has been appointed the new chairman of the Indian School of Business (ISB) Executive Board with effect from April 2018.

He succeeds Adi Godrej, who has been the chairman of the Board since April 2011. The decision of his appointment was taken during the Executive Board meeting held in Mumbai on Friday after Adi Godrej’s term as chairman ended, a statement from the ISB said. Mr. Manwani has been a member of the school’s Board since April 2006. Accepting his role as the chairman, Mr. Manwani said, “I have always been proud to be part of this great institution of learning and am honoured to take on the role of the chairman. I look forward to working with my board members and the dean to help take ISB to greater heights. On behalf of the Board and the school, I thank Adi for his committed leadership. The school has grown tremendously during his tenure. I am delighted that he will continue to serve as a member of the board.”

Mr. Godrej said ISB’s progress on multiple fronts was truly heart-warming and the Board has successfully integrated the culture of excellence and brand consistency across both the campuses in Hyderabad and Mohali. “Our portfolio of programmes has now expanded to eleven full-time and modular programmes from one flagship programme in 2001.”

Mr. Godrej further said that the ISB continues to get top ranks in international rankings and faculty excellence has led it to be the most research-productive management school in India. “Our 8,600 alumni spread across 42 countries are agents of transformation who make us proud. Our research centres and institutions are responding to the needs of academia, government and business. We continue to be one of the largest providers of executive education in the region. I thank the board, associate schools, dean, faculty, staff, alumni and students for their support to me.” said Mr. Godrej.
