Graft case against two Central govt. officials

Both working at international airport

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials on Friday registered a corruption case against two officials of the Union Agriculture Ministry working at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad.

Two officials of Plant Quarantine Information System (PQIS) of Union Ministry of Agriculture, Krishna Thakrey, Assistant Director and Sh. Manoj, Assistant Plant Protection Officer allegedly demanded bribe of ₹ 4,000 each from a person, according to a press release.

The illegal gratification was sought for issuing Phytosanitary certificate for export of samples of tea cups to the US and Canada by a private company. “Manoj was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe. He was arrested,” the CBI officials said. Houses of the both the accused were searched. “People wishing to complain about corruption by Central government departments, Public Sector Undertakings, banks or insurance companies in Telangana and Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh can contact on phone nos. 24732763 or 9010299553,” the a release said.
