A training programme will be held for government employees to sensitise them on government initiatives to improve delivery mechanism

April 24, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - HYDERABAD:

In yet another first, the Government of Telangana is planning to sensitise its employees on its welfare and development initiatives by giving them training with the help of resource persons from within the government and experts from outside, as part of its broader vision of rebuilding Telangana.

“The exercise is aimed at creating a positive attitude among the employees, who play a vital role in implementing the government schemes, by giving them training on the objectives of every initiative and the difference they can make with a positive approach,” Principal Secretary (Planning) B.P. Acharya told The Hindu , when contacted.

An amount of Rs. 30 crore has been earmarked for the purpose by pooling up 0.5 per cent of allocation to all welfare and development schemes. Except the Class-IV employees, nearly two lakh staff working for the government would be given training the module of which is being finalised by the Planning Department.

The sensitisation exercise would begin first with the employees working in the Secretariat, the seat of administration, since it is they who go through the initial processes of any programme.

Official sources said that they were planning to provide a three-day training programme to the Secretariat staff, likely from April 28. It could be postponed by a couple of weeks if the ongoing heat wave is taken into consideration.

In the second leg, training would be imparted to employees working in the offices of Heads of Departments, including head offices, commissionerates and directorates, who handle the programmes before they are passed on to the district administrations for implementation. Employees in districts would get training in the third phase in their respective districts. Sources further said that the focus of the training would be on flagship programmes.
