The State Government has decided to conduct a comprehensive resurvey of lands across the State to ascertain the extent of lands in its possession, private lands and those that have been encroached by others.
To begin with, the resurvey will be conducted in the erstwhile Ranga Reddy district from where there were several reports of irregularities in the land transactions. The survey would be extended to other districts soon.
The development follows the alleged irregularities that came to light during the recent examination of documents of land registration in some places like Miyapur on the city outskirts.
Ordinances issued
The Government had decided to amend the Record of Rights Act in order to ban registration of Jagir lands and other government lands in the State in the name of private persons.
In four Ordinances issued on June 17, the Government has decided to enable maintenance of record of rights in electronic form in Telangana Land Records Management System and to validate the electronically maintained records through centralised storage devices. The title deed and passbook would be combined so that owners could obtain electronic passbooks-cum-title deeds. The amendments, the government said, would help in protecting lands belonging to State and Central governments besides ensuring transparency in the proceedings related to land transactions.
Records linked
The Ordinance was issued after the completion of linking of the records maintained by the Registration Department at sub-registrar level and the Revenue Department at the mandal revenue officer level.
The Government, according to sources, has also decided to fix responsibility for genuinity of documents being registered on the document writers and is likely to introduce stringent guidelines in the coming days in this direction. Though there was a proposal to fix graduation as minimum qualification for document writers, the Government is said to be examining the pros and cons before introducing such a provision.
