The State government is opening more residential schools and colleges in line with the idea of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to promote literacy and education among girl children, Member of Parliament K. Kavitha said.

“The Chief Minister found many girls discontinuing education at different levels due to financial problems of their parents. The State government has decided to open 22 residential colleges for girsl from Scheduled Tribes and 23 for girls from Scheduled Castes. They are being opened in a phased manner,” she said while opening Government Residential Degree College for ST Girls, here on Wednesday.

Better life

She said that this year only two courses — B.Sc Biological Sciences and B.Sc Microbiology — were introduced and from next year admissions would be taken up in all courses.
