A speeding goods carrier hit the metal barrier at Chaderghat road-under-bridge (RuB) in the early hours of Saturday.
The barrier, which was placed as the first-line defence to protect the bridge, was uprooted due to the impact. The goods-carrier also sustained heavy damage. However, no one was injured in the incident.
“The incident happened around 2 a.m. on Saturday. Upon receiving information about the accident, we could retrieve the vehicle immediately using the crane available with us,” Malakpet Traffic Inspector N.L.N. Raju said.
The barrier was removed by 9 a.m., after a second crane was pressed into service, he said.
