A gold necklace costing ₹ 6 lakh was stolen from the newly opened Lalithaa Jewellery at Panjagutta.

The police said the theft appeared to have taken place last Sunday, but came to light on Thursday when the staff were analysing the video footage of surveillance cameras in the store.

“Two women clad in burqa flicked a gold necklace worth ₹ 6 lakh and managed to replace the original jewellery with a duplicate one,” police said.

A case was registered.
