A goldsmith who is a great devotee of Goddess Lakshmi Devi carved her image on a slate pencil on the occasion of Deepavali when Lakshmi puja is performed seeking Her blessings. The youngster V.Siva Naga Narasimhachari of Santapeta village, Narasannapeta mandal of Srikakulam district told The Hindu that he got the idea and tried in vain, several times, to give a proper outline to the image. He could finally do so with great hard work. He had also carved images of great personalities such as Gandhiji and Jawaharlal Nehru. “I sought the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi to every family on the occasion after carving the image,” he said.
