Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) advisory committee chairman M. Ramachandra Reddy has stressed on the need for more institutional and legalised adoptions of orphan children for their safety and good nurture.

Mr. Reddy visited inspected the Sishu gruha in the town and spent some time with the inmates.

He told newsmen that the adoption of children for the barren couples should be taken up in a legalised manner as per the Juvenile Justice Act.

There were adoptions of only 3,000 children in the country while there was a demand for 20,000.

Similarly, in Telangana only 330 adoptions took place against a need of over 1,000 children, he said and added that the legalized adoption would help check human trafficking.

The barren couple could register their names for adoption of children with the Sishugruha adoption authority in the respective districts by submitting the Aadhar Card, income and address proofs etc.

He assured them of clearing the adoption process within two months of completing all formalities.
