GHMC notice to food joint

April 06, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:35 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Taking objection to letting out sewage on the road, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Tuesday sought to know from a popular restaurant about violation of hygiene norms.

The corporation received a complaint from Banjara Hills corporator G. Vijaya Laxmi about sewage being let out on the road by Ohri’s Banjara on Road No. 12 Banjara Hills. Locals took objection to the hotel’s action and registered their displeasure with the corporator, who in turn raised the issue with the GHMC.

“Our health officials inspected the area when they were alerted by the corporator.

They found sewage on the road and served the hotel a show cause notice,” said Khairatabad Circle 10 B Deputy Commissioner N. Ashok Samrat.

He added that health officials also found the kitchen was in an unhygienic condition and sought an explanation.

Mr. Samrat also said that the officials stopped releasing the sewage after GHMC inspection and were asked to explain their action within three days.
