GHMC asked to demolish illegal structure of MLA

Justice C.V. Nagarjuna Reddy of the Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday directed the GHMC to demolish the illegal buildings constructed by K.P. Vivekananda, MLA from Quthbullapur, Hyderabad.

These orders were passed in a writ petition filed by K.M. Pratap, a resident of Quthbullapur alleging that the MLA and his family members constructed a huge commercial structure adjacent to his plot without obtaining permissions from the GHMC. During the hearing files were called for and it was established that the buildings were constructed violating all rules.

While ordering demolition of the structure, the judge directed GHMC Commissioner to identify and initiate departmental proceedings against all the officers responsible for dereliction of their duties pertaining to failure to inspect and stop illegal constructions, and file his report in the Registry, on or before June 15. Justice Reddy also had a piece of advice for the MLA and said that “this case presents a paradigm of a law-maker himself breaking the law, not by accident but by design.

AgriGold assets up for sale

A Division Bench of Hyderabad High Court comprising Acting Chief Justice Dilip B. Bhosale and Justice P. Naveen Rao was informed that sale of properties of AgriGold consortium had begun and huge chunk will be put on sale in May.

The three-member committee headed by a retired High Court Judge told the court that Rs. 7.5 crore was already realised and in May, property worth Rs. 1,100 crore will be sold. The Bench asked the erstwhile management to cooperate. The Bench was dealing with two cases filed by depositors of AgriGold and Akshya Gold complaining that they have been cheated.
