Gang of six dacoits nabbed

Weeks after forming a gang, hatching a plan and committing a crime, a gang of six landed in the police dragnet.

The accused Mohd. Faisal, Mohd. Riyazuddin, Shaik Abubakar, Abdul Imran, Syed Asif and Mohd Muqtar, who were petty traders and low-wage workers, came together to commit robbery in Moghalpura area.

On July 5, the accused entered the office of N. Naveen Kumar, an Airtel SIM card distributor and attacked him before making away with Rs. 3.40 lakh.

The mastermind, Mohd. Faisal, who worked in the same office as the victim, had noticed huge money transactions and approached Riyaz, a fruit vendor with a plan. Riyaz roped in others and the gang which consisted of an auto driver too, decided to take part in the crime.

As per the instructions of Faizal, The members struck in the evening when rest of the office staff were out to break their fast during Ramzan. After committing the crime, the gang fled in the auto and distributed the cash among them.
