The much-awaited and talked-about Gabbar Singh 2 will go on floors in December, producer Sharrath Marar of Northstar Entertainment said, describing it as a love story with loads of action and humour. However, it is being put together as an independent film with no resemblance to the 2012 movie Gabbar Singh or its Hindi original, the Salman Khan-starrer Dabangg , Mr. Marar said.
Initially, ‘GS 2’ (as its being termed in industry circles) was to be directed by Sampath Nandi, but for more reasons than one, he moved on. The megaphone will now be wielded by K. Ravindra aka Bobby, of Power fame. And after several auditions, Anisha Ambrose, a Telugu-speaking girl has been firmed up. The movie will be produced by Pawan Kalyan Creative Works and Northstar Entertainment, in association with Eros International.
Mr. Marar said on Thursday that after a short schedule in December, it will be canned with a May, 2015 release in mind.
‘GS2’ has hero Pawan Kalyan back in action, music by Devi Sri Prasad, cinematography by Jayanan Vincent, and of course, the enormously popular ‘Antakshari Gang’ of the 2012 hit.
The past in the present
A storyline revolving around the urban-rural conflict, with focus on the mannerisms and attitude of the older generation and youngsters, has managed to pull the family audience to the past.
It is expected that Erra Bus , starring Manchu Vishnu and Catherine Tresa, and directed by Dasari Narayana Rao will repeat the success of the Tamil original Manjapai , a successful comedy drama which released this year. Dasari, who plays a key role, has chosen the movie to be his 151st directorial venture.
The makers seem to be confident about the movie right from the beginning as its rights were acquired and the product finished in less than five months. The emotional and humorous scenes between grandfather and the grandson helped the movie click in Tamil, and it remains to be seen whether Dasari and Vishnu can live up to expectations.
