The tricksters presented fake identity cards, salary certificates and residency proof documents stating that they were employees of a company located on city outskirts.

The authorities of HDFC Bank’s Ranigunj branch approached city police on Wednesday stating that some fraudsters had availed Rs.75 lakh loans on the names of 24 persons by presenting fake identity and salary certificates.

The complaint was referred to the Hyderabad CCS. In the past three years, some persons claiming to be employees of a fictitious firm had applied for personal loans.

The tricksters presented fake identity cards, salary certificates and residency proof documents stating that they were employees of a company located on city outskirts.

As they failed to repay the loan amounts, the bank authorities verified the addresses of the employees and more details about the private company only to realise that they were fake.

“We believe the fraud could not have been committed without the help of some insiders,” the police said.
