Four persons were murdered, three of them in less than 24 hours, in separate incidents in the city. The victims include a 68-year-old woman.

The elderly woman was found in a pool of blood at her house in Jupiter Colony, Trimulgherry, on Sunday morning. Police are looking out for a 25-year-old domestic help, who was hired by the woman and her husband less than a fortnight ago.

Trimulgherry inspector R. Rajeshwara Rao said G. Sulochana was killed when her husband Kanta Rao (75), who was bedridden owing to paralysis, was sleeping.

The murder came to light around 7.30 p.m. when the neighbours informed the elderly couple’s son Phani Krishna, a resident of Shaikpet, of his mother’s death.

The victim was smothered, strangulated and stabbed, police said. “The house was found ransacked and a mangalsutra, ear-tops and silver anklets which the woman was wearing were missing and ₹20,000 was also missing from cupboards,” the inspector said.

The couple were living in the Nehru Laya Enclave in Jupitar colony for the past several years and had hired Arun Kumar on May 7 as their attendant.

“Kumar abstained ffrom work or a couple of days and returned on Saturday evening. We suspect she was killed on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday,” Mr Rajeshwara Rao said.

In the second case, Muniswamy (35), a resident of Himayat Nagar, was found dead under suspicious circumstances at his house on Sunday morning. Narayanguda police said he was working as a security guard in Somajiguda. He was a native of Vizianagaram. The incident came to light at around 11.30 a.m.

Narayanguda inspector B. Ravindar said the victim suffered a severe head injury.

“We suspect he was attacked with a blunt object and bled to death.”

In another case, a 33-year-old businessman was murdered by three persons at Mahabharat Nagar road in Khairatabad under Saifabad police station limits late on Saturday.

The victim was identified as Shiva Kiran, a resident of Borabanda. He was involved in several cases, including murder and flesh trade in SR Nagar police station limits, police said.

The accused, Mohammed Rehman, Bharat and Ajju chased and attacked Kiran with knives which they had carried to eliminate him.

“After a heated argument, the trio chased and killed Kiran due to some pecuniary problems,” the Saifabad police said. Sources said Rehman was taken into custody and confessed to the murder.

A 50-year-old man who was attacked by unidentified persons at Manikonda on Thursday night succumbed to the injuries in Osmania General hospital on Saturday. The victim, P. Ramana, was a resident of Manikonda.
