In what was considered a rare occurrence, the entire film industry across Telangana downed the shutters with the decision makers in the Film Chamber and related trade bodies announcing their decision 10 days ago to completely cooperate with the survey.
There were no shootings anywhere in the State and most people associated with the industry preferred to sit at home and chill out, waiting for the enumerators to visit them. Every film studio, sound studio/re-recording lab and other facilities that specialise in post-production work for movies had closed shops as a significant number of their employees hail from Telangana.
Currently, there are at least around 25 to 30 films that are in the shooting stage, whose scenes were shot even on Monday, but for which all work was suspended for the day. Likewise, about 20 more films are in different stages of post-production – the audios for some of these have already been released, while some more are waiting in the wings.
Prominent among the films that are in varying stages of production include Pawan Kalyan-starrer ‘Gopala Gopala’ directed by Kishore Parthasani, Mahesh Babu-Tamanna-starrer ‘Aagadu’ directed by Sreenu Vaitla, ‘Rabhasa’ with NTR and Samantha in the lead directed by Santosh Srinivas and director Krishna Vamsi’s ‘Govindudu Andarivadele’ with Ramcharan Tej and Kajal Agarwal.
