The farmers suffering under the high tension power lines held a dharna at the Revenue Divisional Officer’s (RDO) office at the district headquarters on Saturday demanding justice.

They alleged that despite assurance by District Collector Manickaraj Kannan nothing had changed.

Some of the farmers brought the issue to the notice of K. Ramulu, Member of National S.C. Commission, who visited the district headquarters on Saturday.

He has instructed the RDO to implement the orders issued by the District Collector in regard to compensation.

The RDO reportedly got irritated when farmers touched his feet urging him to address their problems. Finally, Mandal Revenue Officer Govardhan promised to bring the issue to the notice of the Collector once again and get the issue addressed.
